New England PBA The Hinsdale Police Department is seeking highly motivated, community-oriented police officers for a lateral transfer. The department is situated in the heart of the Berkshires. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, a commitment to a community-policing model, and proficient written and verbal communication skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Candidates for lateral transfer to the Hinsdale Police Department must be capable of fulfilling the essential duties and responsibilities of a patrol officer. These include, but are not limited to: The ability to conduct work on all shifts Conducting proactive, preventative, and responsive patrol activities Conducting introductory criminal, administrative, and traffic investigations Comprehensive and thorough report writing Completing required documentation and computer tasks Performing other duties as may be required Minimum Requirements Candidates must either be a full-time police officer certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission and have successfully completed an Academy recognized by the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) or be eligible for an exemption for out-of-state training. Additionally, candidates must: Have a current driver's license in excellent standing Meet the eligibility requirements for an unrestricted Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC), per MGL Ch. 140 Section 131 Pass a background investigation, which may include a physical examination, a drug test, and psychological testing Possess a High School Diploma or GED Benefits Include (but are not limited to):
Salary Range:
$71,739-$73,330 (beginning July 1, 2026)
Detail Rate:
$70.00 / Hour (Paid via Revolving Account)
Work Schedule:
