Job Description
The Town of Shirley Police Department is now accepting applications for an opening for full-time Police Officer . Shirley is located in Middlesex County and borders Ayer, Devens, Lancaster, Lunenburg, Harvard, Groton, and Townsend. We are seeking a motivated, community‑focused professional committed to modern policing practices and high standards of service. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma (candidates with degrees in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related fields preferred) Completion of a Full-Time
MPTC/MCJTC
Police Academy Ability to pass all phases of the selection process, including interviews, an extensive background investigation, medical exam, and psychological examCompensation & Benefits Starting Salary:
$65,000-$80,408 (commensurate with training and experience) Education incentives and additional stipends available 4/2 scheduleHealth Insurance:

$68.44/hr (standard), $102.66/hr (emergency, 11p-7a, Sundays, holidays) Vacation (First Year Only): 40 hours after 3 months 40 hours after 9 months 80 hours at 1‑year anniversary Primary Duties Maintain public safety and security throughout the Town of Shirley Enforce state laws, local bylaws, and motor vehicle regulations Respond to emergency calls and requests for assistance Conduct patrols, traffic enforcement, and security checks of buildings, parks, and public areas Identify and investigate criminal and non‑criminal incidents Prepare accurate reports and documentation for court proceedings Assist the public, mediate disputes, and provide referrals to appropriate services Perform special assignments as directed Shirley is an equal opportunity employer.
