Job Description

The Ontonagon County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicantsfor a full-time Road Patrol Officer/Deputy.
General Summary:
Road Patrol Officers/Deputies patrol the entire County to control traffic, prevent crime or disturbance of the peace, and arrest violators of State and Local laws. Responds, as directed by the dispatcher or necessitated by a hazard situation, to a variety of complaints or calls requiring police assistance.
Salary and Benefits:
Starting wage for this position is $22.72/hr with a 3-year step increase and also includes: Law Enforcement Division Traffic and Safety Continuous & Specialized Training Self-Purchased Duty Weapon Department-issued rifle and shotgun Department-issued Taser Recreational Patrol Opportunities-ORV, Marine, Snowmobile, and USFS Lake Checks Paid Leave Time & Additional Pay Paid Holidays Annual Vacation accrued by seniority Personal/Sick Time (96 hours annually) Additional Pay Shift Premium Uniform Allowance Ammo Allowance MERS Defined Contribution Retirement Optional 457 and HCSB plans available. Overtime availability through vacations, shift coverage and multiple grant opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS
Michigan State Certification Required (M.C.O.L.E.S.)Successful Completion of the Police Academy or ability to become certified.
