Job Description

The Camden County Sheriff's Office is hiring for the position of School Resource Officer for the Climax Springs R-IV School District. The Camden County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency located at the heart of the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri. We pride ourselves on providing 24-hour police response to more than 45,000 permanent residents and millions of visitors every year. The minimum qualifications for this position will be as follows: Position Overview The School Resource Officer (SRO) fulfills a vital "triad role" acting as a law enforcement officer, law-related educator, and informal counselor. Operating out of the Climax Springs PK-12 campus, the selected deputy will work collaboratively with school administrators to maintain a secure learning environment, build trust with the student body, and handle campus security assessments.
Compensation & Differentials Starting Salary:
$23.74 per hour
Experience Credit:
Lateral compensation consideration is given after one year of employment .
Shift Differential:
A $1.50 per hour night shift differential applies when applicable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Campus Security:
Maintain a highly visible, uniform patrol footprint across all district property to deter criminal activity, trespassers, and safety hazards.
Emergency Management:
Partner with school administration to review, update, and practice crisis plans, active-threat response protocols, and emergency drills.
Law Enforcement:
Investigate crimes committed on campus, write police reports, handle calls for service, and execute legal duties according to Missouri law and agency policy.
Student Education:
Present safety-focused educational materials in classroom settings, covering topics such as drug awareness, cyber-safety, and the justice system.
Mentorship & Community:
Serve as a positive role model to students, fostering strong relationships built on mutual respect and helping guide at-risk youth away from the juvenile justice system.
Minimum Qualifications Certification:
Must be Missouri P.O.S.T. certified and in good standing.
Citizenship & Age:
Must be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age.
Background Check:
Must possess a clean criminal history with no felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions within the last 5 years.
Driving Record:
Must hold a valid driver's license with no serious traffic violations in the last 3 years.
Military Service:
If applicable, must provide a DD214 documenting an Honorable Discharge.
