Job Description
Overview The Code Enforcement Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position involves monitoring and enforcing codes related to public health, safety, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining community standards through effective enforcement practices. Responsibilities Conduct inspections of properties to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Investigate complaints related to code violations and public health concerns. Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and actions taken during inspections. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including property owners, contractors, and local government agencies. Educate the public on code requirements and compliance processes. Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions. Stay updated on changes in regulations including OSHA standards and FDA regulations. Participate in community outreach programs to promote awareness of code enforcement initiatives. Requirements Strong understanding of compliance management principles and regulatory reporting requirements. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively. Knowledge of public health regulations and their application within the community. Familiarity with OSHA standards is preferred. Ability to build positive relationships with community members while enforcing codes fairly. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate inspections and reporting. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment. Valid driver's license may be required for travel between inspection sites.
