Salary Range:

As an officer, you'll perform a wide range of general law enforcement duties that help ensure the safety and security of our city and its residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot to deter and detect crime Respond to calls for service, including disturbances, accidents, and emergencies Investigate crimes and traffic incidents, gather evidence, and prepare reports Apprehend suspects and assist victims of crime and accidents Enforce traffic laws and manage traffic flow during incidents or events Testify in court proceedings as required Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and public service

Work Environment:

Supervised by higher-ranking officers, but expected to operate independently during shifts Evaluated through performance reviews, report quality, and response effectiveness Opportunity to grow within a department that values professionalism and service excellence Must be a citizen of the United States, at least 20 years of age, high school graduate or have obtained a GED, possess a valid North Carolina driver's license, successfully completed the NC Basic Law Enforcement Training, be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation, be fingerprinted and photographed, have a satisfactory history of financial responsibility, and committed no felonies or serious misdemeanors. Must meet and maintain all minimum requirements for the position established by the City of Claremont and N.C. Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division. All offers of employment are subject to the successful completion of our agency's in-service firearms qualification, controlled substance screening, medical exam, and psychological exam. Hiring Salary range DOQ. Background check and drug screening required. Must have a valid N.C. driver's license.
