Whether you are an experienced law enforcement officer or exploring a career in policing for the first time, we offer opportunities for candidates at all levels. All applicants must successfully complete a physical agility test. Applicants with less than two years of licensed law enforcement experience are also required to pass a written exam. Entry level candidates selected for employment will be sponsored through the North Dakota Peace Officer Training Academy to obtain their peace officer license. The academy is a 12 week course located in Bismarck, North Dakota and provides the training necessary to begin a rewarding career in law enforcement. Salary•

Entry Level:

Police Recruit:

$55,692 (Salary during police academy)

Police Officer:

$65,520 (Salary upon completion of police academy and becoming ND POST licensed). The City of Williston offers a $2,500 recruitment bonus! Salary•

Lateral:

$65,520•$85,489, DOE Prior licensed law enforcement experience is credited at the discretion of the department. The City of Williston offers a $5,000 recruitment bonus to eligible lateral applicants.
