This position is assigned to the law enforcement division of Public Safety. Under general supervision, a Police Officer participates in Clark County Public Safety's Field Training and Evaluation Program, patrols Clark County facilities and parks, assists the public, makes arrests, controls crime, prevents and detects violations of law, and enforces state and local laws. This is an open and continuous recruitment, scheduling dates will vary depending on when the application was received and reviewed by Human Resources.

Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T. Certification): A valid copy of a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Category I certification is required at time of application. Applications submitted without valid P.O.S.T. Category I certification will be considered as an incomplete application. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Working Conditions:

Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada State Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Category I Certification or have completed a certified Nevada Peace Officer Academy Category I training program at time of application. Must be capable of passing Nevada P.O.S.T. Category I State Physical Fitness Examination as defined by
NAC 289.205.
Must meet the minimum standards for appointment as defined in
NAC 289.110.
Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. In addition to the minimum requirements, per Nevada P.O.S.T. Out-of-State Candidates:
Applicants with P.O.S.T. certifications outside the State of Nevada must provide documentation at time of application proving their certification meets Nevada P.O.S.T. Category I standards. Background Investigation:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. The background investigation may include a psychological and polygraph evaluation. Periodic background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Patrols parks and other Clark County facilities and properties by vehicle or on foot for the purpose of assisting the public, detecting, deterring, and controlling crime, making arrests or issuing citations for violations, enforcing state and local laws, executing search or arrest warrants, and ensuring the safety and security of Clark County facilities and community. Performs investigative duties regarding complaints and incidents, gathers information, conducts preliminary and follow-up investigations, collects and documents evidence, and apprehends violators of state, county, and local laws. Provides crowd and traffic control coverage at Clark County special events, emergencies, congested situations, and assigned activities, and participates in security operations related to major events. Prepares comprehensive written reports, including accident and arrest reports, affidavits, and citations; and completes all documentation required for investigations and enforcement actions with accuracy and detail. Testifies in court when necessary, presents evidence, and maintains proper courtroom demeanor. Transports and books arrested persons and transports offenders to medical facilities or other designated locations as required. Responds to emergencies at Clark County facilities and park locations as necessary and takes appropriate action to protect life and property. Operates a County vehicle with heightened caution and sound judgment while transporting persons, traveling to various locations, responding to emergencies, tactical driving, and performing law enforcement duties under both routine and high-pressure conditions. Assists other law enforcement agencies when necessary and coordinates responses during incidents and emergencies. Explains and interprets Clark County rules and regulations, county ordinances, state statutes, local laws and regulations, and court decisions related to police activities. Assists and provides appropriate first aid and CPR and provides assistance to injured or vulnerable individuals until medical personnel arrive. Provides information and appropriate assistance concerning Clark County programs and facilities and upholds and promotes the mission, vision, and core values of Clark County in all interactions with the public. Uses standard office technology, including computers, and utilizes law enforcement equipment such as radios, mobile data terminals, tablets, and other tools essential to police operations. Performs other similar and related duties as required to support law enforcement operations and job functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a public safety setting, including traverse difficult terrain, stamina to stand, walk and/or run for extended period of time, and strength to physically restrain, arrest and /or eject individuals; occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds; vision to use standard office equipment and read printed materials including a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
