Police Officer- School Resource Officer Assaignment

About us The Nelsonville Police Department focuses on protecting the citizens of Nelsonville through proactive patrols and maintaining positive interactions within our community. We are currently seeking a candidate for the position of School Resource Officer at the Nelsonville-York School District.

• Conducts duties and responsibilities of a Law Enforcement Officer within the City of Nelsonville with an emphasis on the school district
• Serves as a liaison between the department and the school district
• Ensures the safety of students, staff and property of the school district
• Protects citizens through proactive patrols, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, and enforcement of all federal, state and local laws
• Effectively communicates with dispatch as well as other officers in person and via radio communications
• Conducts investigations, maintains detailed reports of all interactions, collects evidence, apprehends suspects, determines applicable criminal charges, and testifies to their findings in court
• Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor
• Candidates will be OPOTA certified prior to hiring
• Candidates will undergo a thorough background check as well as take a civil service exam
