Police Officer

The Police Officer at Benedict College Police Department is responsible for protecting life and property on campus, preventing crime, and enforcing laws and regulations while supporting the college's educational mission through community-oriented policing approaches. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patrol assigned areas of campus on foot or in patrol vehicles to prevent and detect crime Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service Investigate criminal activity, traffic accidents, and suspicious incidents Enforce state laws and college regulations Maintain detailed and accurate records of incidents and activities Develop positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff through community policing initiatives Provide security for campus events and special functions Assist with crime prevention programs and educational presentations Participate in ongoing training and professional development Serve as a resource for the campus community regarding safety concerns Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status with eligibility to work High school diploma or GED (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred) Graduation from South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy or ability to attend and successfully complete within one year of hire Valid South Carolina driver's license with acceptable driving record No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history Physical ability to perform essential job functions Must have reliable transportation Must have the ability to work 12hr shifts
