This position is with the Directorate of Emergency Services located at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Duties Help Enforce all applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances by responding to violations, conducting investigations, and taking appropriate action. Prepare proper and accurate reports, forms, and documents. Develop plans for specific police response to emergencies and force protection planning. Ensure assigned personnel properly execute law enforcement. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance. Must pass initial and annual medical examination, emotional and mental stability which includes physical agility/ability test, IAW
AR 190-56.
Must pass initial drug test and subject to random drug testing. This position is Mission Essential. Must possess a valid, state-issued motor vehicle license (loss of license may result in removal from the position). Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends, as required. Must qualify and remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP), IAW
AR 190-56.
Must successfully complete the Department of Army Civilian Police Academy. Must meet annual training, re-certification and mandatory requirements of
AR 190-56.
May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves and other associated equipment. Required to meet proficiency requirements in specialized weapons and unarmed self-defense. Must be qualified and certified in Chemical Aerosol Irritants, Tear Gas, Radar Gun and breathalyzer operations.
Qualifications Who May Apply:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Directing the work of a workforce that ensures security and safety, 2) Developing performance standards, hiring actions or disciplinary actions of subordinate supervisors, and 3) Performing supervisory functions of employees engaged in police and law enforcement operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
