Certified Police Officer

Dover is a small and quiet community and the county seat of Stewart County, TN. With a population under 2000, Dover is home to many relaxing and historic locations. Land Between the Lakes, National Parks, and Cross Creeks National Wildlife Refuge to name a few. Dover offers plenty of opportunities for hunting, fishing, boating, and all kinds of outdoor recreation. Dover has a low crime rate, friendly residents, and a small-town charm about it. The Dover Police Department is a merged agency for the Town of Dover providing both police and fire related services. Police Officers for the City generally work routing patrol and respond to all emergencies in the City and assist outside the City to help other agencies as needed. Patrol Officers work a rotating schedule and generally work 10-hour shifts on days or evenings. All full-time officers within the Dover Police Department are required to be certified, meet the requirements of being a Police Officer and have a basic understanding of firefighter duties.

REQUIREMENTS FOR POLICE OFFICER

Post Certified Police Officer Must be 21 years of age or older Must have a high school diploma or GED Must have a valid State of TN driver's license Must have no felony convictions or misdemeanors related to integrity, honesty, or domestic violence. Any other misdemeanor will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Must be of good moral reputation with a positive work history. Additional State of Tennessee requirements must be met if selected
