Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors during district- sponsored events, athletic competitions, and board meetings. Reserve officer's supplement the full-time department staff in the protection of life and property and the enforcement of State and Local laws within the district's jurisdiction.Qualifications:
TCOLE Licensing:
Active and valid Peace Officer license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.Education:
High School Diploma or GED.Documentation:
Must provide a validTCOLE L-2
(Medical/Drug) and L-3 (Psychological) certificate.Certification:
Must obtain Texas School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) proficiency within 180 days of appointment.Clearance:
Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, fingerprinting, and a $1,000 surety bond (District provided).Skills:
Ability to work effectively with students and adolescents; strong conflict resolution skills.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain high visibility and provide security at extracurricular activities, sporting events, and campus functions. Enforce Texas Penal Code and Texas Education Code within the District's jurisdiction. Perform crowd control and traffic management at large-scale district events. Deter, investigate, and report criminal activity occurring on district property. Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate law enforcement action as required.WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment:
Work is performed mostly outdoors at athletic stadiums or indoor school facilities. Frequent standing, walking, and potential for physical exertion in emergency situations. Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.HR Note:
This position is classified as a Reserve Peace Officer under Texas Education Code §37.081. This is an at-will, event-based position and does not qualify for TRS membership or full benefits unless otherwise specified by District policy.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress; prolonged hours; subject to callout 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
