Job Description

Police Officer City of Katy | Katy, Texas | Full-Time Candidates must have their TCOLE certification to be considered, no sponsorships at this time! About the Role The City of Katy is seeking dedicated and community-focused Police Officers committed to protecting life and property, preserving peace, and ensuring public safety across residential, commercial, and public areas. This role is central to maintaining a safe community through proactive policing, professional response to calls for service, and strong community engagement. What You'll Do Patrol neighborhoods, businesses, and public areas to deter and detect criminal activity Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, including accidents, disturbances, and criminal investigations Enforce traffic laws, investigate collisions, and issue citations or make arrests as appropriate Conduct criminal investigations, including evidence collection, scene processing, and suspect interviews Serve warrants, subpoenas, and assist with searches and lawful enforcement actions Prepare detailed reports including incident, arrest, accident, and investigative documentation Provide assistance and information to the public and support community safety initiatives Assist with prisoner transport, booking procedures, and court-related testimony Perform vehicle inspections and maintenance checks on patrol units Maintain physical readiness and proficiency in defensive tactics, firearms, and safety procedures Support emergency operations and critical incident response as needed What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent Ability to obtain and maintain Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer certification Strong understanding of criminal, traffic, and civil laws Sound judgment, integrity, and ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations Effective communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to public service and community safety Additional Requirements Valid Texas Class C driver's license required Must meet physical fitness and defensive tactics standards Must be able to work in varied environments, including exposure to hazardous or high-stress situations Designated as Essential Critical Infrastructure personnel Why Join the City of Katy? Qualifications:
Job Requirements :
Minimum age 21. High School or GED. Must be a current TCOLE Certified Peace Officer. Ability to work all shifts, holidays and weekends, and a variety of assignments as directed.
Qualifications :
Applicants must pass a physical agility test, firearms proficiency test, written exam, oral interview board, background check, psychological, and post-offer medical exam and drug screen. Applicants must be a minimum 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen, valid State of Texas Driver License and good driving record, must have never been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor in the last ten years or ever been convicted of a Class A misdemeanor. Military discharges must be Honorable. TCOLE discharges must be Honorable. Applicants must pass a standardized push up and sit up test, Concept 2- 2000 meter row test, firearms course and written test.
