: High School Diploma or Equivalent Two years experience as a Law Enforcement Officer and/or combination of law enforcement experience, military experience or federal agency experience
LICENSE:
Texas Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY
: Part of the designated emergency response law enforcement team, assigned to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety which would otherwise exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement first responders. Responsible for rapid deployment to contain, control, and neutralize any threat to the safety and welfare to the District. Responsible for providing a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors to the district. Patrols District property in a highly visible manner to deter physical harm to students, employees, and visitors and to prevent burglary, theft, or vandalism of District property. Enforces state and federal laws as well as policies, directives, and standards of the district.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Patrols assigned campuses and facilities both on foot and in a vehicle within the District's jurisdiction. 2. Responds to calls for assistance from students, District employees and visitors concerning crisis situations, accidents and reports of crime. 3. Maintains optimal mission capability through operations of extended duration. 4. Participates in arrests and other dangerous assignments, all of which may pose the risk of personal bodily harm. 5. Conducts criminal investigations by collecting and preserving physical, real, direct, indirect, circumstantial evidence and witness statements. 4. Files appropriate charges against individuals and ensures placement, if necessary, in jail or appropriate juvenile detention center for all subjects in violation of the law. 5. Executes arrest warrants and serves subpoenas and summons as required. 6. Testifies in court as required. 7. Works cooperatively with other law enforcement agencies to share information and provide assistance as needed. 8. Provides protection to and/or escort service to District personnel as needed. 9. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records and documents required, including affidavits for arrests and incident reports. 10. Regularly operate District vehicles and transports students as required. 11. Maintains confidentiality of information. 12. Reports to work on time every day. 13. Performs additional duties and accepts responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a pre employment screening to include physical ability exam, vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing and a psychological evaluation Possess own duty gear and equipment, to include, but not limited to: Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 full size 9mm handgun, three (3) magazines, handcuffs, and any other personally purchased duty gear or equipment. Required to maintain weapons proficiency and pass department's firearms qualification course twice a year. Required to maintain a high-level of fitness necessary to effectively respond to life-threatening situations. Must successfully complete the physical abilities test annually. Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks while wearing personal protective equipment. Valid Texas Driver's License and must meet the standards set by the State Board of Education, the Department of Transportation, Texas Department of Public Safety and the District and possess an acceptable driving record documented by a Motor Vehicles Record Check
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Strenuous walking, running, standing, and climbing; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously are essential to performing the duties required in this position. Additionally, the employee is required to regularly operate District vehicles; lift and transport students and witnesses in the performance of assigned duties. The individual must pass a pre employment physical examination to Include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing, and a psychological evaluation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and risk of radiation.
