This full-time position works under the supervision of the Police Captain and is represented by the Camas Public Employees' Association bargaining unit. The position is covered under Civil Service Rules and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Job Duties This position is responsible for the day-to-day functional supervision of the records staff. In addition, duties this individual will perform include training, overseeing and participating in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical support functions within the police department including record keeping, dispatching, typing, data entry, file maintenance, answering phones and responding to the general public; receiving, screening and directing telephone calls and performing a variety of technical tasks relative to a law enforcement agency. Minimum Qualifications Candidates for this position shall have: Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by specialized training in office procedures or a related field Four years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience Government agency or public employer experience is desirable Valid driver's license Certification as a Washington State Public Records Officer (WAPRO), or the ability to obtain certification Technology skills including intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word). Ability to pass state and federal background checks for security clearance including extensive background check and polygraph examination. In addition to the job description requirements, the preferred candidate will possess the following attributes: excellent customer service skills, good verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated organizational and decision making skills, ability to work with all sectors of the community - public, private, business, schools, and citizens, flexibility to work non-standard hours as needed, and the ability to work under the stresses and emotional strains of law enforcement. IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION
In the event there are 20 or more qualified applicants, a written test will take place at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 27. Location TBA. If there are fewer than 20 qualified applicants, no test will be held. Applicants will proceed directly to the interview.

Details regarding the testing process will be sent by June 19 via email to those applicants selected to advance. Applicants MUST be able to attend the test if invited. There is a required $20 testing materials fee which will be collected the day of the test. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and we understand that the best candidate may be someone who will learn some tasks on the job.
