McQuillan & Hohman Law / Alaska Immigration Law Center is seeking an experienced attorney with 5+ years of practice experience to join our growing firm in Anchorage. We are looking for a lawyer who can stand on their own from day one in at least one core practice area, with substantial experience in civil litigation, plaintiff's litigation, criminal defense, or family law. This is not a heavily supervised junior role. We are hiring a capable, confident attorney who already knows how to manage cases, handle clients, move litigation forward, and perform at a high level. At the same time, this is not a plug-into-a-machine-and-burn-out position. We are a fun, energetic, team-focused law firm in a period of planned expansion, with real room for growth and real upside for the right attorney. We believe exceptional lawyers do their best work when they have a life outside the office. We promote an unheard of work-life balance for the legal profession. We do not want people married to their jobs. We want attorneys who care deeply about their work, serve clients well, and still have time to live fully, recharge, and stay sharp for the long run. Our office prioritizes mental health, preventing burnout, and building a culture where high performance is sustainable. Why This Opportunity Stands Out For the right attorney, this role can be more than a lateral move. It offers the chance to step into a growing Alaska firm, build a strong practice, expand your earning potential, and create a genuine long-term future. We are open to partnership-track candidates, portable books of business, revenue-sharing structures, and immediate equity partnership for a candidate with a substantial enough book of business. We are also realistic about what strong attorneys want. They want autonomy, support, upside, and a life outside of work. This position is designed to offer all four. Life in Alaska Anchorage offers something many lawyers in larger markets spend years trying to find: the ability to build a high-level practice while still having access to an extraordinary life. Here, it is possible to leave the office and be on a trail, on the water, in the mountains, or headed toward a weekend adventure in remarkably little time. Long summer evenings, winter lights, world-class fishing, skiing, hiking, wildlife, and open space are not vacation perks here. They are part of everyday life. For the right attorney, Alaska is not a compromise. It is an advantage. If you want sophisticated work, meaningful responsibility, and a place that still feels alive beyond billable hours, this is a rare opportunity. About the Role We are looking for an experienced attorney with deep experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Civil litigation
  • Plaintiff's litigation
  • Criminal defense
  • Family law The right candidate will have substantial hands-on experience with:
  • Trial practice
  • Hearings
  • Motion practice
  • Depositions
  • Case strategy
  • Client management
  • Negotiation and settlement work
  • Independent case handling from intake through resolution If your background is concentrated in one of these areas, or you have meaningful experience across multiple areas, we want to hear from you.
You do not need to already practice in immigration, probate, or estate planning. We will provide mentorship and support in our firm's practice areas as needed. What matters most is that you are already a strong attorney in your own field and can contribute at a high level from the start.
