Role:
Join Jack W Gooding, the Chapter 13 Standing Trustee for Arkansas, appointed by the United States Trustee Program of the U.S. Department of Justice, who seeks a Staff Attorney to assist in the administration of Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. This role represents the Trustee in court, conducts debtor examinations, and provides legal guidance on case administration and compliance. Key Responsibilities Review Chapter 13 pleadings and plans for compliance with the United States Bankruptcy Code Draft and file legal documents, including petitions and motions. Conduct §341(a) meetings of creditors Prepare and file objections to confirmation and motions to dismiss, as appropriate Analyze case files and represent the Trustee in Bankruptcy Court proceedings Negotiate with debtor and creditor counsel on behalf of the Trustee Perform legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs Review and object to claims, including secured and unscheduled claims Advise staff on plan interpretation and modifications Monitor business cases, including review of operating reports and assets Represent the Trustee in state court proceedings, as needed Collaborate with support staff to ensure efficient case management. Participate in CLE and public education related to Chapter 13 Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Licensed to practice law (Arkansas admission preferred or ability to obtain) Bankruptcy experience, particularly Chapter 13, preferred Strong analytical, negotiation, and writing skills Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and deadlines Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
