Job Description

Associate Attorney Law Offices of Nicomedes Suriel Phoenix, AZ Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications Spanish Written communication Immigration law Law Professional ethics Doctor of Law (JD) Attention to detail Productivity software Bar Full Job Description Job Overview The firm is truly a small, boutique law firm focusing exclusively on US Immigration & Nationality Law. We like to think of ourselves as "small but mighty" and we regularly get results others can never achieve. Why? Because we don't take cases where we are not convinced there is a remedy there; there is a goal for us to shoot for. Under Attorney Suriel's leadership we have advocated and won many "impossible" cases all the way up to the US Supreme Court. Our litigation team relishes the challenge whether before USCIS , US-ICE, US-CBP, US-HIS or the many levels of immigration related courts. You will be individually mentored and you will be taught all the hidden nooks and crannies of US immigration law. You will be spending a considerable amount of time with our Senior Litigation Partner, Attorney Suriel who brings not only 34+ years as an immigration advocate, he has been steeped in the US immigration system since his case started in New York in 1969. Attorney Suriel is very proud of having mentored 5 previous Associate Attorneys. Every single one of these attorneys have gone on to illustrious careers as immigration advocates. The vision is for the successful applicant to be Attorney Suriel's final mentee. While Attorney Suriel is an active mid-60 year old, the firm envisions the successful applicant having the potential to step into the role of successor of the firm past the current regime. The successful applicant is looking at a ground floor opportunity to build a 40+ year career. It is important to note that during these uncertain times where US citizens are being killed on the streets of US cities, where over 60 people have died in ICE custody, many now call themselves "Immigration Lawyers." Many of these lawyers are totally fake & false; these Johnny-Come-Latelies are mostly snake-oil salespeople looking to make a quick buck. The DNA of this law firm is deeply steeped in expertise, knowledge, skill and patiently applying all the past lessons to achieve the best result possible for clients. If you are serious about becoming the best immigration lawyer you can be, then we look forward to your being the successful applicant. Lastly, Spanish proficiency is very important; however, if you are not totally fluent, we will make you so. The key to all of this is your burning desire to become the very best. Duties Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to support ongoing cases and legal strategies Draft, review, and revise legal documents including detailed immigration forms, court pleadings, contracts, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity Assist seasoned attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, negotiations, and client meetings by organizing case files and evidence Support case management activities by tracking deadlines, maintaining case records, and updating case status reports Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and facilitate communication on legal matters Participate in client consultations under supervision, ensuring all information is accurately documented, communicated effectively and held in strict confidentiality Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that impact the firm's practice areas to provide timely updates Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the Arizona bar in good standing Strong legal ethics with ability to learn and analyze complex legal issues quickly and accurately Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential A proactive attitude with enthusiasm for learning and growing within the legal field
