Position Overview We are seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate to join our litigation team and handle a broad range of commercial disputes on behalf of corporate and individual clients. The successful candidate will manage cases from intake through resolution, working closely with partners and cross-functional teams to develop strategy, produce memos and motions, lead discovery, and advocate in depositions, hearings, and trials. The role balances strong advocacy and drafting responsibilities with client counseling and business development, and offers opportunities to work on matters involving equity disputes, intellectual property, contract and tort claims, real estate, trusts and estates, and accounting liability. Key Responsibilities Manage a docket of commercial litigation matters from intake through resolution, including litigation strategy and case budgeting. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis; draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings. Prepare for and participate in discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests for production, managing e-discovery, and overseeing document review. Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate deposition logistics. Argue motions, appear at hearings, and assist with trial preparation and courtroom presentation when necessary. Counsel and communicate with clients regarding case strategy, risk assessment, settlement negotiations, and litigation budgets. Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas (e.g., IP, real estate, trusts & estates, accounting-related matters) to align legal strategy on complex or multi-disciplinary matters. Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, providing feedback on drafting, litigation technique, and case management. Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, client pitches, and thought leadership initiatives. Maintain accurate time and billing records and meet firm productivity and professional development goals. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar (or pending admission) where the role is located. 3+ years of experience as an associate or attorney practicing commercial litigation at a law firm or in-house legal department. Demonstrated experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery; experience with depositions and courtroom advocacy. Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with attention to factual and procedural detail. Familiarity with e-discovery tools and document management systems; competence with litigation technology and case management platforms. Excellent client-facing skills, professionalism, and ability to manage competing priorities under deadline pressure. Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team; experience supervising junior lawyers or paralegals preferred. Business development aptitude and strong communication skills for internal and external engagement.
