Job Description

Labor & Employment AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Labor & Employment Attorney to provide expert legal counsel and representation in employment-related matters. The attorney will advise employers and employees on compliance, defend and prosecute litigation involving wage-and-hour claims, discrimination, retaliation, collective bargaining, and other workplace disputes, and contribute to risk management and policy development. The role requires strong litigation experience, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of labor and employment matters, including wage-and-hour claims, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and contract disputes.

Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements; prepare for and conduct hearings, trials, and arbitrations.

Advise clients on employment policies, handbooks, compliance with federal and state labor laws (e.g., FLSA, Title
VII, ADA, FMLA
), and best practices to mitigate risk.

Conduct internal investigations into workplace complaints and provide strategic recommendations and remediation plans.

Represent clients in administrative proceedings before agencies such as the EEOC, DOL, and state labor departments.

Counsel employers on collective bargaining, union avoidance/relations, and labor negotiations when applicable.

Work collaboratively with HR and management to design training, discipline frameworks, and performance management processes.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in labor and employment law and incorporate developments into client advice and litigation strategies.

Develop business through client relationships, participate in intake and proposal work, and mentor junior attorneys and paralegals.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.3+ years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with demonstrated litigation experience in federal and state courts.

Proven experience handling wage-and-hour matters (FLSA), discrimination, retaliation, and employment contract cases.

Strong litigation skills, including drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, and courtroom advocacy.

Knowledge of labor law matters, including collective bargaining and union-related issues, preferred.

Excellent analytical, negotiation, and client counseling skills; ability to translate legal risk into practical business solutions.

Effective written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, mentor junior staff, and build client relationships.

Comfortable with legal research tools and case management software; litigation and document review platforms experience preferred.
