We are seeking an experienced attorney who is ready to tackle a leadership role! Lead with Purpose. Advocate for Victims. Make an Impact. Nevada County is seeking a highly skilled and passionate attorney to serve as the Supervising Criminal Attorney. This leadership position is ideal for an experienced prosecutor committed to safeguarding vulnerable victims, advancing justice with integrity, and mentoring trial attorneys. This role involves supervising Deputy District Attorneys who handle complex and sensitive cases, while also maintaining a felony caseload. We seek a compassionate leader who excels in court, upholds ethical prosecution, and recognizes the profound effect this work has on victims and the community. The ideal candidate brings advanced criminal trial experience, particularly in difficult and high-profile cases. Candidates should be comfortable using technology in a fast-paced legal environment where case management, evidence review, and information sharing are fully digital.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Leading, mentoring, and supervising attorneys Handling and prosecuting complex cases Guiding case strategy and supporting professional development within the team Collaborating with law enforcement, victim advocates, courts, and justice partners Promoting ethical, trauma-informed prosecution practices aligned with the mission of the District Attorney's Office Participating in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of legal staff

We prefer at least three years of the total required experience to have been in the assigned department/office. -Active membership in the California State Bar.
