Job Description

Associate AttorneyPosition OverviewWe are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload, provide high-quality legal representation in court and at hearings, and support partners in all phases of litigation. This role requires a licensed attorney with strong litigation skills (JD, active bar admission) and the ability to handle legal research, drafting, discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. Experience in business litigation, personal injury, or construction matters is a plus.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of civil litigation matters from intake through resolution, including settlement and trial.

Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other court documents with accuracy and attention to deadlines.

Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and persuasive written arguments on complex legal issues.

Prepare for and take depositions, examine witnesses, and work with experts to develop case strategy.

Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials in state and/or federal court.

Develop case strategies in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys, including settlement analysis and risk assessment.

Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel to manage expectations and advance case goals.

Supervise and mentor paralegals and junior staff, delegate tasks, and review work product for quality and compliance.

Maintain accurate time and billing records and contribute to business development efforts, including client outreach and networking.

Manage case calendars, meet court-imposed deadlines, and ensure compliance with local rules and procedures.

QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar.

Minimum 2 years of civil litigation experience preferred; open to attorneys with 2+ years of litigation experience depending on candidate strength.Demonstrated experience with all phases of litigation, including drafting motions, discovery, depositions, and courtroom appearances.

Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to prepare persuasive briefs and client communications.

Excellent oral advocacy, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; comfortable arguing motions and handling hearings.

Familiarity with settlement negotiation strategies and experience resolving matters favorably for clients.
Nice-to-have:
experience in business litigation, personal injury, and construction law matters.

Experience taking and defending depositions, working in court, and participating in trials is a plus.

Proficiency with case management software, e-filing systems, and standard office technology.

Strong organization, time management, and ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines.
