Responsibilities:
The Managing Associate General Counsel and Chief Professional Liability Counsel is a senior member of the Prime Healthcare Legal Department. The Managing AGC and Chief Professional Liability Counsel provides legal and strategic advice and counsel to all key stakeholders, including the executive team, regional leadership and local hospital C-suites, as to all matters related to professional liability and clinical risk. This attorney leads the Company's professional liability program, including supervision of the professional liability and clinical risk team, active management of a high volume of professional liability litigation matters and claims across the system, and education in furtherance of continued improvement of clinical risks. The Managing AGC and Chief Professional Liability Counsel has substantial prior experience managing and defending professional liability claims against physicians and hospitals, along with a strong understanding of insurance coverage and funding issues. This attorney must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, and meet high priority and short turn-around time deadlines as they arise.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Required qualifications: J.D. from ABA Accredited Law School Admission in good standing to the California State Bar. At least fifteen (15) years of prior legal experience in law firm, public sector, and/or in-house positions. At least ten (10) years of experience specifically focused on management and defense of professional liability claims. Significant experience with hospital or healthcare risk management and exposure control. Must have experience in the healthcare industry, preferably with hospitals and professional liability claims against physicians. Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Strong client relations, team building, and leadership skills. Ability to work both individually with minimum supervision, and within a team and leading a team.

Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $182,374.40 to $300,040.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
