Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney who will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support, conducting research, drafting legal documents, assisting with case management, and representing people accused of or being investigated for criminal charges during all stages of the legal process including litigating jury trials. This position is ideal for motivated legal professionals eager to develop their expertise within a criminal defense team environment while contributing to impactful legal solutions that greatly affect people's lives. We will provide training on legal writing, negotiation, and jury trials, but the candidate should have a basic foundation from which to build upon. Duties Manage a full-time caseload of criminal and quasi-criminal cases Communicate, meet with, and sign up potential clients when they call or drop in Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and CEB to support case strategies and legal opinions Draft and review a variety of legal documents including pleadings, emails, and other correspondence with precision and clarity Assist senior attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, negotiations, and client meetings Manage case files and calendaring efficiently, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date in the law office management system Participate in negotiations on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes while maintaining the strictest standards professionalism, ethics, and integrity Stay informed about current laws and regulations affecting criminal law, including related areas such as civil and domestic violence restraining orders, asset forfeiture, immigration policies, family law matters, estate planning, and other relevant legal developments Skills Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients during all stages of the criminal procedure process including jury trials Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis and CEB platforms Excellent writing skills for drafting clear legal documents and memoranda Legal administrative experience including managing case files and maintaining accurate records and calendar Effective communication skills for client interaction, opposition including the prosecution and judiciary, as well as collaboration within the legal team This Associate Attorney position offers a rewarding environment where your legal expertise will directly impact the lives of clients and their loved ones.
