We are currently seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Specialist for a credit union headquartered in Valencia - 2-days remote/3-days onsite!

Responsibilities:
Work closely with the department manager assisting with bankruptcies, legal actions, repossessions, small claims, and settlements. Manage charged off litigation files and work with credit union counsel, outside counsel, and collection agencies to develop satisfactory payment plans and settlements for charged off accounts to recover loan losses. Prepares and analyzes repossession, bankruptcy, and charge off recovery reports for department and senior management. Responsible for managing legal files assigned to outside resources including serving as a liaison with attorneys and agencies in handling charged-off and/or bankrupt loans. Manages and responds to escalated calls from members, vendors, or outside agencies. Ensures the performance of repossession, bankruptcy, and charge off recovery collection activities. Reviews cost/benefit analysis of vehicle impound and lien sale notices for appropriate disposition of collateral. Responsible for processing creditor's claims on charged off deceased member's accounts.
Requirements:
3 to 5 years of collections including auto repossessions and bankruptcy recovery. Thorough working knowledge of Collections and Bankruptcy laws and regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills to resolve basic and complex member concerns in a professional and personable manner over the phone and via e-mail. Analytical skills to create and analyze reports and present them to management. Ability to plan and manage department projects. Familiar with the legal process in order to manage litigated files. Working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products.
