Law Firm Bookkeeper (Trust Accounting/IOLTA)

Law Firm Bookkeeper (Trust Accounting / IOLTA ) Torrance, CA | Full-Time | $28-$36/hour + Benefits Trauma Law , a growing personal injury law firm, is seeking an experienced Law Firm Bookkeeper to manage our legal accounting, client trust (IOLTA) accounts, and settlement disbursement bookkeeping. This role includes three-way trust reconciliations, client trust ledger management, and settlement disbursement accounting . It is ideal for a bookkeeper who has worked in a law firm accounting department or has experience handling attorney trust accounts in QuickBooks. This is not a general bookkeeping role. We are specifically seeking someone familiar with law firm trust accounting, IOLTA compliance, and settlement disbursement workflows. Key Responsibilities You will manage the firm's day-to-day financial operations and ensure strict compliance with legal trust accounting rules . Responsibilities include Manage client trust (IOLTA) accounts and operating accounts Perform monthly three-way trust reconciliations Maintain client trust ledgers and trust liability balances Oversee settlement disbursement accounting Issue client settlement checks and medical provider payments Review settlement disbursement sheets before checks are issued Confirm supporting documentation for liens and vendor payments Maintain general ledger accuracy and financial organization Manage accounts payable and vendor payments Track case expense line of credit payments Record cash receipts and disbursements Generate financial reports for firm leadership This position requires extreme attention to detail, financial discipline, and the ability to maintain perfectly balanced trust accounts. Ideal Candidate The strongest candidates will have experience working in legal accounting or law firm bookkeeping and understand the importance of protecting client trust funds.
