Job Description

Garfield & Hecht, P.C., a well-established Colorado law firm with offices across the mountain and Western Slope communities, is seeking an experienced Municipal / Water Attorney to join our growing practice. We are looking for a motivated attorney with 2-5 years of experience in municipal law, land use, special districts, and/or Colorado water law. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, drafting, and client-management skills, with experience advising municipalities, developers, water districts, or private clients on regulatory and transactional matters.
Responsibilities:
Advise municipalities, special districts, and private clients on municipal governance, land use, zoning, and regulatory compliance Handle water rights transactions, due diligence, water court matters, and related permitting Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, contracts, intergovernmental agreements, and development documents Represent clients before local governments, boards, commissions, and administrative agencies Support real estate, development, and infrastructure projects involving municipal and water issues
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school Licensed to practice in Colorado 3-8 years of relevant experience in municipal, land use, or water law Water court or Colorado water rights experience strongly preferred Excellent writing, negotiation, and communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
Compensation & Benefits:
