Our client is seeking a Family Law Staff Attorney to support individuals and families navigating divorce, paternity, and related family law matters, with a strong focus on assisting survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence.
LEGAL OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
This is an exceptional opportunity for a service-minded attorney to join a well-established legal advocacy organization dedicated to expanding access to justice for underserved and vulnerable populations. The attorney in this role will provide direct legal services and courtroom advocacy while collaborating with internal legal teams, community organizations, and pro bono partners throughout Central Florida. The position offers a rewarding blend of litigation, client counseling, legal advocacy, outreach, and community engagement in a supportive and mission-focused environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Represent and advise clients in family law matters including divorce, paternity, custody, support, and related proceedings
Advocate for survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence
Conduct client intakes, interviews, legal assessments, and case investigations
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and other legal documents
Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and related proceedings
Manage an active caseload while maintaining timely and accurate case documentation
Conduct legal research utilizing legal databases and practice management technology
Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and organizational leadership
Support and assist private attorneys participating in pro bono initiatives and co-counsel opportunities
Build relationships with local bar associations, community partners, nonprofit organizations, and public stakeholders
Participate in outreach events, educational presentations, and community advocacy initiatives
Travel throughout the regional service area for court appearances, meetings, trainings, and outreach activities
WHAT YOU BRING
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
Active Florida Bar membership in good standing
Prior family law experience preferred
Litigation and courtroom advocacy experience preferred
Demonstrated passion for serving low-income and vulnerable communities
Strong legal writing, research, advocacy, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Comfort working with clients facing sensitive and emotionally challenging circumstances
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, legal research databases, and legal case management software
Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the service area

Starting salary beginning around $70,000+, depending on experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a full-time role that includes regular in-person meetings, court appearances, outreach, and client engagement throughout the organization's Central Florida service region. The position involves local travel and occasional evening or weekend commitments based on organizational and community needs.
