Job Description

Three Rivers Legal Services Inc. (TRLS) has an immediate opening for a full-time Paralegal II in our Lake City Office. The Paralegal will provide litigation support to the Family Law Project which assists domestic violence victims and survivors. A desire to assist low-income clients and underserved populations is essential. TRLS is a nonprofit law firm that provides free legal assistance to low-income clients, the elderly and underserved populations. TRLS is dedicated to the provision of quality legal assistance and to community empowerment through preventive legal education and outreach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interview clients and provide advice under the direct supervision of an Attorney. Substantial drafting of legal documents, including, but not limited to, motions, notices, petitions, financial affidavits, etc. Draft advice and closing letters under the supervision of an Attorney. Conduct legal research and fact investigations. Maintain schedules and appointment calendar for meetings, hearings, trials, etc. Maintain detailed notes in electronic case management system. Manage, organize, and archive documents in case management system. Maintain Notary Public license. Represent TRLS at meetings, community events, and other outreach.
Qualifications:
Paralegal Certification, Associate degree or higher or 3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal. Family law paralegal with experience providing direct support to litigation attorneys, preferred . Experience working with domestic violence survivors, also preferred. Excellent oral, written, and legal research skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to demonstrate sound understanding of legal rules and procedures. Strong people skills and ability to relate to clients, attorneys, other professionals, and the community. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite. Demonstrate interest in public interest law and commitment to justice for low-income and underserved populations. Access to a vehicle during working hours. Salary and Benefits Salary range is $24 -$30 per hour, depending on experience.
Benefits package includes:
Paid time off including 20 vacation days, 12 sick days, 12 office holidays, and 3 personal holidays. Employer paid $50,000 life insurance policy with an option for employees to purchase additional coverage. 403(b) retirement plan with 5% employer contribution after 2 years of service.
