Scion Legal Staffing has been engaged to conduct a confidential search on behalf of a highly respected nonprofit legal services organization serving communities throughout Central Florida. Our client is seeking a Staff Attorney to support its Older Adults Advocacy Unit, assisting seniors and caregivers facing a broad range of civil legal challenges.
LEGAL OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
This is an exceptional opportunity for a compassionate and service-minded attorney to join a well-established legal advocacy organization dedicated to expanding access to justice for vulnerable populations. The attorney in this role will work closely with older adults and caregivers on matters impacting their independence, safety, financial stability, and quality of life. The position offers a unique blend of direct client representation, litigation, community outreach, and collaborative advocacy with social service organizations and community partners throughout Central Florida.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Represent and advise clients in a variety of elder law and civil legal matters Handle cases involving elder abuse, financial exploitation, housing issues, consumer scams, public benefits, guardianship, estate planning, and family law matters Conduct client intakes, interviews, and legal assessments Draft pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other legal documents Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and administrative hearings Provide legal education and outreach presentations within the community Build and maintain referral relationships with local service providers and community organizations Collaborate with organizations serving older adults, caregivers, and vulnerable populations Supervise support staff and assist with broader advocacy initiatives impacting seniors and caregivers Travel throughout the regional service area for outreach events, meetings, and client services
WHAT YOU BRING
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school Active Florida Bar membership in good standing Minimum of four (4) years of legal experience preferred Prior experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations strongly preferred Elder law experience preferred Litigation and courtroom experience preferred Strong legal writing, advocacy, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment Comfort working directly with clients navigating sensitive and challenging circumstances Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management technology Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the service area

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a full-time role that includes regular in-person meetings, outreach, and client engagement throughout the organization's Central Florida service region. The position involves consistent local travel and occasional evening or weekend commitments based on community and organizational needs.
