Byron Meredith III, Standing Chapter 13 Trustee, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented staff attorney to join its team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced federal bankruptcy environment focused on the administration of Chapter 13 cases in the Southern District of Georgia, Savannah and Statesboro Divisions. The staff attorney assists Chapter 13 Trustee in the review, analysis, and administration of bankruptcy cases, ensuring compliance with the Bankruptcy Code applicable state law and local rules Key Responsibilities Represent the Trustee before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Georgia at confirmation hearings, motions to dismiss, motions for relief from stay, adversary proceedings, and other matters as required Prepare for and conduct meetings of creditors Review petitions, plans, amendments, motions, proofs of claim, and other pleadings for compliance with applicable statutes and local rules Exercise sound legal judgment in the drafting of legal documents, including objections to confirmation, motions to dismiss, objections to claims, responses to pleadings, proposed orders, and briefs Review cases for confirmation, dismissal, or conversion Communicate professionally with the court, debtors, debtor attorneys, creditors, creditor attorneys, and other parties in interest
REQUIREMENTS
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and eligibility for admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal and communication skills Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plan Paid holidays and generous leave policies Professional development opportunities The Chapter 13 Trustee's Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
