April 13, 2026 About the Role Povolish Law is growing! Povolish Law is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Associate Attorney at our Carbondale Main Street location. The Junior Attorney will work closely with the firm's managing partner, paralegals, and legal staff to support and manage cases from intake through resolution. Successful candidates must be willing to work in a high‑volume, small law firm handling multiple practice areas, including guardianship, probate, estate planning, business formation, and real estate. Ideal candidates are comfortable working directly with clients, will bring excellent communication and writing skills, and are motivated to support Povolish Law's client‑centered approach. Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned matters under attorney supervision, including guardianship, probate, estate planning, business formation, and real estate matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, estate planning documents, correspondence, and other legal documents
• Appear in court as required once licensed and authorized to practice law in the State of Illinois
• Meet directly with clients, maintain regular communication, and provide clear procedural guidance
• Conduct legal research and factual investigation
• Assist with case strategy, file management, and deadline tracking
• Collaborate with paralegals and legal secretaries in a fast-paced legal environment Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Licensed in Illinois or eligible for licensure in Illinois
• 0-5 years of legal experience , including new graduates
• Strong legal writing and verbal communication skills
• Comfort working in a high-volume small firm handling multiple practice areas
• Ability to work directly with clients in a professional and empathetic manner
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office , particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
• Experience or coursework in probate, guardianship, estate planning, real estate, or business law
• Prior drafting experience with litigation pleadings or transactional documents

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work Environment:

Office-based Schedule:

M-F 9:00-4:00, for clients. Other hours may be required depending on case load. (Some evenings and weekends are required)

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting and screen use; occasional standing, walking, and light lifting of files or office materials Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package, which may include:
