Job Description

Position Summary Seeking an adaptable General Practice Attorney to join a dynamic law firm. This role entails providing comprehensive legal support across diverse practice areas, acting as a first-line legal advisor, and referring clients to specialists when cases require deeper expertise. Key Responsibilities Advise clients on a variety of legal matters including: Estate planning (wills, trusts, powers of attorney) Real estate transactions, purchase agreements, lease reviews Contract drafting and review Minor criminal or traffic matters and small claims representation Business formation for small enterprises (LLCs, partnerships, etc.) Basic personal injury or landlord‑tenant disputes Conduct client intake, legal needs assessments, research, drafting, and representation in municipal or small courts. Identify cases exceeding the firm's generalist scope and refer clients to qualified specialists. Maintain continuity and holistic understanding of client's legal affairs by managing multiple related matters. Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the Illinois State Bar and in good standing, including meeting character and fitness requirements. Experience in a broad range of legal areas. Strong communication, problem-solving, and client-focused skills. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in small firm or solo settings with generalist caseloads.
