We are a boutique law firm based in Oak Park that focuses mostly on residential real estate transactions and estate planning. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to join our small, yet busy, law firm. The ideal candidate will be passionate about real estate and estate planning law, and eager to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and engaging work environment. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with an experienced attorney and gain valuable insight into transactional-based legal services, including traveling to closings and client meetings.
Key Real Estate Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and review of real estate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Conduct legal research and analysis on various real estate issues. Support senior attorneys in negotioting and closing real estate transactions. Provide legal advice and guidance to clients under the supervision of experienced attorneys. Attend client meetings, real estate closings, and other relevant events. Assist in resolving legal disputes and issues related to real estate transactions. Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.
Key Estate Planning Responsibilities:
Assist in drafting and reviewing estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Conduct legal research and provide analysis on estate planning issues and changes in the law. Support attorney in managing estate planning cases from inception to completion. Prepare legal briefs and correspondence related to estate planning matters. Attend client meetings and participate in consultations to understand clients' needs and goals. Maintain accurate and organized client files and documentation.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the Illinois State Bar or 2026 bar exam / admission pending. Proficiency in Spanish preferred. Prior professional experience is not required, but candidate must have a strong interest in real estate and estate planning law with a desire to build a career in this field. Preferred prior internships in real estate or estate planning practice. Reliable transportation to travel to the office, closings and client meetings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills. Deadline management and adherence.
