Job Description

Established (90+ Years) Premier Firm Seeking Litigation Attorney for Construction Litigation in Baton Rouge, LAAn established firm based in Baton Rouge, LA with over 90 years in practice is seeking a Construction Litigation Attorney with 10+ years of construction litigation experience to join their team onsite. This role focuses on representing clients across the construction industry in contract disputes, claims preparation, and litigation in Louisiana state and federal courts, as well as mediation and arbitration proceedings.

Qualifications:
10+ years of construction litigation experience, with substantial exposure to contract disputes and claims work strongly preferredDemonstrated experience handling matters from inception through trial, including first-chair or significant second-chair trial experienceFamiliarity with construction industry clients, including owners, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and suretiesWorking knowledge of Louisiana construction law, lien and bond statutes, and AIA contract documentsJuris Doctorate and active Louisiana Bar membership in good standingLaw school transcripts required as part of the applicationStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to digest complex contract documents, schedules, and technical reportsExcellent attention to detail, organization, and professionalism in a deadline-driven environment
Responsibilities:
Representing clients in construction disputes involving contract claims, delay and disruption, defective work, payment issues, and lien and bond mattersManaging cases through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparationDrafting motions, briefs, discovery responses, and dispositive filingsConducting and defending depositions of parties, project personnel, and expert witnessesReviewing and analyzing construction contracts, project documentation, schedules, and expert reportsCommunicating regularly with clients regarding case strategy, exposure, and resolution optionsAppearing in state and federal court for hearings, conferences, and trials, and participating in mediation and arbitration proceedings as neededMentoring junior associates and contributing to case strategy development across the construction litigation team
