Maxim Healthcare is hiring for an Assistant General Counsel for Litigation and Investigations assists in the management and resolution of legal matters affecting Maxim Healthcare Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees and leads investigations within the home healthcare setting, including allegations involving patient care, clinical quality, caregiver conduct, compliance, safety incidents, and regulatory concerns across branch and field operations and works with stakeholders to address identified areas for improvement Directs the full lifecycle of investigations related to home-based patient care, including intake assessment, scoping, evidence preservation, witness interviews (field clinicians, caregivers, patients, and families), documentation, and reporting Identifies systemic risks and trends arising from home healthcare investigations and collaborates with business and clinical leaders to drive process improvements, policy updates, and caregiver education Advises branch and corporate office personnel regarding a wide array of substantive issues in order to minimize exposure and expense to the company, while meeting business objectives Develops and conducts trainings for corporate and field leaders on investigation best practices and risk mitigation strategies Complies with federal, state, and local regulations governing home healthcare, including Medicare/Medicaid Conditions of Participation, licensure requirements, reporting obligations, and payer expectations Manages litigation and claims filed against Maxim Healthcare Services and files suit where appropriate Acts as a trusted advisor to regional and area leadership, offering guidance on complex, high-risk matters affecting patient safety, caregiver accountability, and organizational integrity Maintains subject-matter expertise in investigative best practices, patient safety principles, and evolving legal and regulatory standards impacting the home healthcare industry Supports Legal Department operations, working closely with the General Counsel and senior Legal leadership on investigation governance, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts Advises branch leaders, clinical managers, and corporate stakeholders on investigative findings, risk exposure, and resolution strategies specific to home healthcare delivery models Partners closely with Clinical, Compliance, Risk Management, HR, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure coordinated, compliant, and consistent investigative responses across geographically dispersed branches Provides clear, defensible investigative findings and risk assessments to senior leadership Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited law school, and strong academic credentials Must be a member in good standing of the Maryland bar, or actively licensed and in good standing in another state and eligible to sit for the next scheduled administration of the Maryland bar exam At least one year of substantive experience in providing concise and timely legal advice to a company with multiple office locations (areas of responsibility will vary, but the successful candidate should have experience in the front-line investigation of a broad range of employee and customer-related concerns, and in providing timely, practical, and legally appropriate advice and solutions to field and headquarters personnel) Excellent communication skills Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams) Proficiency in the English language is required
Salary:
$132,000 with a $16k bonus potential #LI-AC1
