ATTORNEY-ADVISER

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Offices of Hearings and Inquiries (OHI). As a ATTORNEY-ADVISER, GS-0905-13, you will review administrative appeals for the purpose of identifying and analyzing complex legal issues in order to provide advice and recommend actions concerning these issues and to develop proposed Board actions.

Experience requirement for GS-13: Requires 2 years of professional legal experience post bar admission, with one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Bar membership requirement : HHS Attorney positions require current active bar membership. Admission to the bar of any State, territory, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, or Federal Court is acceptable. Employees must maintain active bar membership while employed as an attorney with HHS. Active bar membership is verified prior to appointment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
