Job Description

A respected mid-sized law firm in the Cary area is seeking a Family Law Associate Attorney to join its growing practice. The firm has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality representation in a wide range of domestic matters and offers attorneys the opportunity to work on sophisticated cases in a collaborative and supportive environment. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least 2 years of family law experience who is looking to continue developing litigation skills while managing meaningful client relationships. The firm handles a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, separation agreements, and related domestic disputes. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable handling court appearances, communicating directly with clients, and managing cases with a high level of professionalism, organization, and empathy. Responsibilities Represent clients in family law matters including divorce, custody, support, alimony, and equitable distribution disputes Manage cases through all stages of litigation, including intake, pleadings, discovery, motions, mediation, hearings, and trial preparation Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, separation agreements, consent orders, and related court filings Appear regularly in court and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and conferences Provide strategic and practical legal guidance tailored to each client's goals and circumstances Maintain strong communication with clients and provide updates throughout the life of the case Collaborate with attorneys and staff on case strategy and firm initiatives If applicable, assist with estate planning matters such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and estate administration Qualifications Active North Carolina law license in good standing Minimum of 2 years of family law litigation experience required Comfortable handling hearings, negotiations, and client-facing responsibilities Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills Ability to independently manage a caseload while also working collaboratively within a team environment Organized, responsive, and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced practice Experience with estate planning is a plus, but not required Professional, client-focused demeanor with strong interpersonal skills What the Firm Offers Competitive compensation structure with base salary plus commission Comprehensive benefits package including full insurance coverage 401(k) with profit-sharing Paid time off and paid holidays Strong support staff and collaborative team environment Opportunity for professional growth and advancement within the firm Consistent caseload with meaningful courtroom and litigation experience Well-regarded and stable firm culture focused on client advocacy and long-term success Apply today to learn more about this excellent opportunity!
