POSITION SCOPE
The Assistant General Counsel provides critical legal support to the organization by delivering timely guidance on a variety of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. This individual will assist with drafting and reviewing contracts, managing legal documentation, conducting research, and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and company policies. They will also work collaboratively with internal teams to mitigate risk, support business initiatives, handle correspondence related to legal matters and maintain accurate and confidential legal records. The role contributes to efficient daily operations by supporting the General Counsel and other departments with reliable legal and administrative expertise.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Draft, review, and revise contracts, agreements, and other legal documents Track legal deadlines, facilitate interdepartmental communication, and support ongoing legal projects Prepare routine legal correspondence, filings, and internal documentation Maintain legal databases, case files, and contract repositories while ensuring accuracy, organization, and confidentiality Assist with compliance reviews, regulatory filings, and internal investigations Manage disputes, claims, and litigation including coordinating with outside counsel as necessary Manage and prepare corporate governance documents and maintain corporate formalities Support risk management efforts by identifying, assessing, and reporting legal issues Conduct legal research and summarize findings for the General Counsel Handle sensitive legal information with a high degree of confidentiality Review internal reports and documents to ensure legal accuracy and alignment with company standards Input, update, and manage legal information across tracking systems and spreadsheets Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the construction industry and provide proactive guidance to the company Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active license to practice law Minimum 2-3 years of directly related legal experience, preferably in corporate, contract, or compliance law Admission to, or the ability to be admitted to, the state bar of North Dakota and/or Arizona Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with legal research tools and contract management software preferred Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing needs, and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment Knowledge of contract law, corporate governance, compliance requirements, and general legal procedures Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and mitigate legal risks Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive legal matters Fisher Industries is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
