Job Overview:
General Purpose:
Performs professional legal work on a part-time basis to support the County Attorney's Office by providing legal research and analysis. This position provides part-time coverage through September 20, 2026 with a possible extension to March 1, 2027, to address workload demands and special projects while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and County policies.
Supervision Exercised:
None Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties:
Conduct Legal Research and Analysis on Statues, Case Law, Ordinances, and Regulatory Requirements Relevant to Assigned Matters. Prepare, Review, and Revise Legal Documents Including Pleadings, Motions, Briefs, Contracts, Agreements, and Memoranda. Draft Legal Opinions and Recommendations to Support Decision-Making and Ensure Compliance with Federal, State, and Local Laws. Demonstrate Working Knowledge of The Rules of Evidence, Civil Procedure, and Other Relevant Nebraska Statues. Review, Analyze, and Interpret Contracts, Agreements, and Procurement Documents to Ensure Legal Sufficiency and Compliance with Federal, State, and Local Laws. Perform Other Duties as Assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications Graduate of An Accredited Law School with A Juris Doctor Degree. Must Be Licensed to Practice Law in The State of Nebraska. Must Be a Member in Good Standing with The Nebraska Bar Association. Have and Maintain a Valid Driver's License, as Well as Meet Eligibility Requirements of "acceptable Driving Standards" as Defined by The County.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Effective Communication and Interpersonal Skills for Interacting with Diverse Individuals. Ability to Multi-Task, Prioritize, and Manage Time Effectively. Proficiency in Using the Microsoft Office Suite and Other Software Related to Data Management, Communication, and Other Common Business Processes. Ability to Follow Established Policies and Procedures for Confidentiality While Adapting To Evolving Privacy Standards and Technologies. Ability to Build and Maintain Positive Relationships Within a Team. Knowledge of Legal Research Methods, Case Law Analysis, and Statutory Interpretation. Skill in Conducting Legal Research, Drafting Motions, Pleadings, Briefs, and Other Legal Documents. Ability to Interpret and Apply Complex Laws, Regulations, and Contract Provisions.
