DEPUTY PUBLIC DEFENDER, ELY - UNCLASSIFIED

The Nevada State Public Defender, Ely Office, is responsible for representing indigent clients in the Ely Township Municipal Court, Justice Court and the Seventh Judicial District Court. Preference may be given to candidates that are self motivated, possess conflict resolution skills, proficient in Microsoft 360 programs, Legal Case Management software systems, and is fluent in Spanish. Nevada Bar Membership is required or candidates must be eligible to practice under the rural practice provision of the Nevada Supreme Court Rule 49.9. Daily responsibilities include meeting with clients in and out of custody, reviewing and analyzing discovery, consulting with clients, investigators, and additional office staff, managing court appearances, client meetings, telephonic conferences, and negotiating with opposing counsel. Experience in criminal defense law, strong written and verbal communication skills, time management skills, and organizational skills.
