Job Description

Personal Injury Specialist
I GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Responsible for the oversight of quality and timeliness of patient care, in addition to patient, provider, and attorney satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serving as the primary resource and support center while ensuring that all work is current and accurate.
This includes:
Processing referrals on the same day they are received Accurate demographic information and insurance/payor information is loaded correctly Appropriate and accurate authorization and approvals for medical services are obtained Accurate and appropriate scheduling of patients Ensuring the referral log is updated and accurate Coordinating medical record requests in a timely manner Coordinating incoming and outgoing calls Disseminate information to department regarding case updates, changes, issues, etc. Proficient in personal injury billing, coordinating depositions, presenting, and preparing medical records, and billing to the physicians and appropriate personnel Basic understanding of lien laws and processes Acting as a liaison for attorney questions and addressing attorney questions in a timely manner Respond to providers' and attorney's questions, requests, and concerns regarding the status of patient referrals, care coordination or follow-up status Answer, respond and document phone calls, requests, and questions from patients and attorneys in a timely manner Assist in legal documentation and responses for various requests and needs Ensures correct billing is completed on personal injury cases Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
GED or High School Education, bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred 3 years' experience in healthcare field Paralegal certification preferred Basic knowledge of medical terminology Excellent communication skills are essential to this position
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment. Travel as needed in operational markets.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity using keyboard and computers.
