Job Description

A well-established criminal defense practice is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney with substantial courtroom and trial experience. This position is intended for a seasoned litigator capable of independently managing serious criminal matters from intake through verdict. The position may be structured as either full-time W-2 employment or a 1099 independent contractor role depending on the candidate. Full-time W-2: In-office position 1099
Contractor:
Remote or hybrid arrangements available, part time or case-by-case options. Responsibilities Handle felony and misdemeanor criminal cases from inception through resolution, including jury trials Serve as lead trial counsel in state and/or federal criminal proceedings Advise clients on legal options, risks, and potential outcomes Negotiate with prosecutors and opposing counsel when appropriate Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and legal staff when needed Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with all ethical and procedural requirements Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Federal experience is a plus Active license and good standing with the California State Bar 8-10+ years of criminal defense experience Strong knowledge of criminal procedure, evidence, and constitutional law Excellent oral advocacy, writing, and client communication skills Ability to manage a substantial caseload independently Experience handling serious or high-stakes criminal matters strongly preferred Mandarin speaking is a strong plus.
