Job Description:
Our client, a well-established and highly respected AM Law 200 firm, is looking to add a Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditor's Rights Partner to their growing team. Candidates can be located in Albany NY, Buffalo NY, Rochester NY, Syracuse NY, New York City or New Haven CT. The firm is looking for established lateral partners with debtor-side expertise and a partial or full book of business. They would also consider a group or boutique bankruptcy firm looking to join a larger, collaborative platform with significant cross-practice opportunities. The ideal candidate(s) should have experience handling debtor and creditor side restructuring and enforcement, including Chapter 7, 11, 13 (creditor side), Sub V matters and Chapter 15 recognition proceedings. Familiarity with creditors' committee work and knowledge of the UCC (particularly Article 9), NY Debtor and Creditor Law, and the Voidable Transactions Act is important, along with bankruptcy court litigation skills covering pleadings, discovery, hearings, trials, and appeals. Additional familiarity with exempt asset planning, mortgage foreclosure processes, and both state and federal civil procedure is valuable. The candidate should also be able to identify issues in labor and employment (e.g., WARN Act, ERISA) and real property tax matters. Candidates must meet the following criteria: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials A minimum of seven years of experience in complex bankruptcy matters Must be admitted to practice in New York State or Connecticut Ability to manage multiple matters, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills The firm offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package. At this time, the good faith estimate of the annual salary range for this position is $175,000 to $225,000. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as experience, skill level and portable book of business.
