Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our commercial litigation team. The Associate will manage a diverse caseload of business disputes and commercial matters, working closely with partners to develop strategy, conduct discovery, draft and argue motions, and represent clients in hearings, mediations, and trials as needed. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented attorney with strong writing and advocacy skills who is building a career in commercial litigation. Key Responsibilities Handle all phases of commercial litigation matters, including case intake, fact investigation, legal research, and strategy development.
Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other court and client-facing documents.
Manage discovery processes: prepare interrogatories, requests for production, coordinate document review, and supervise e-discovery vendors when applicable.
Prepare for and take depositions, defend depositions, and participate in witness preparation.
Appear at court hearings, status conferences, mediations, and, when appropriate, trials; argue motions and present oral advocacy under partner supervision.
Work closely with partners to develop litigation strategy, advise clients on case posture and settlement options, and maintain clear client communication.
Manage day-to-day case logistics, maintain case calendars and deadlines, and ensure timely billing and matter documentation.
Collaborate with colleagues across practice groups on cross-disciplinary issues and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Support business development efforts by contributing to pitches, proposals, and client presentations and cultivating client relationships.
Mentor and guide junior staff and paralegals on substantive tasks and best practices for case management. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in which the attorney will practice.
5+ years of litigation experience, with a focus on commercial or business litigation.
Proven experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery; courtroom and deposition experience preferred.
Strong legal research and writing skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive legal memoranda and briefs.
Excellent oral advocacy and client communication skills, with the ability to present complex information succinctly to clients and courts.
Familiarity with e-discovery workflows, document review platforms, and litigation-support technology; proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Professional demeanor, strong judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, and administrative staff.
Interest in and aptitude for business development activities and building a book of business; networking and client relationship skills.
Commitment to ethical practice and continuing legal education; willingness to take on increasing levels of responsibility. Benefits $145,000
