Role Summary:
The Intern's position provides assistance, information, and support to staff and clients of NAICA's Immigration legal support center. This is ideal for those who have an interest in Immigration law, public interest and/ or direct client advocacy.
Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:
Intern is responsible for, but not limited to:
Schedule appointments and intakes.
Distribute flyers and brochures at events.
Support staff at Know Your Rights events.
Assist staff conducting intakes.
Clerical/copying/scanning duties.
Support the staff attorney while in the office meeting with clients.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed Work Environment /
Schedule Requirements:
Based upon Intern's availability.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Familiarity with Immigration law is a plus.
Ability to work with clients from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity and professionalism.
