Associate Attorney -
Public Law Location:
Akron, Ohio A respected Ohio law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with a background in public law to join its growing municipal and government practice in Akron. This position is ideal for an attorney with experience working in a county prosecutor's civil division, city law department, or a private firm representing public-sector clients. The firm represents municipalities and public entities across Ohio and is looking for an attorney who is comfortable advising government clients on a wide range of public law matters. Position Overview The successful candidate will work closely with municipal clients and public officials, providing legal guidance on regulatory, administrative, and governance issues. Attorneys with experience advising cities or public agencies and handling administrative and municipal matters are strongly encouraged to apply. Practice Focus
  • Public records requests and compliance
  • Drafting municipal legislation and ordinances
  • Administrative appeals and regulatory matters
  • Zoning and land use enforcement
  • Employment and labor issues involving public entities
  • Municipal litigation when necessary Responsibilities
  • Advise municipalities and public-sector clients on day-to-day legal matters
  • Draft ordinances, resolutions, and other legislative materials
  • Respond to public records requests and ensure compliance with public records laws
  • Represent public entities in administrative hearings and appeals
  • Assist with zoning enforcement and regulatory matters
  • Provide employment law guidance for public employers
  • Support litigation involving municipal or administrative disputes Requirements
  • 2+ years of legal experience in public law or municipal law (more experience strongly preferred)
  • Background working with or representing government entities (county prosecutor's office, city law department, or public-sector practice)
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Ohio Bar
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work directly with public officials and government clients Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $75,000 - $100,000+ depending on experience
