Job Description
Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick has an opportunity for a real estate attorney with a minimum of 3 years of commercial experience to engage in sophisticated and challenging real estate legal work for clients in Ohio and nationwide. The position will focus on negotiating and drafting commercial real estate documents, including (but not limited to) purchase agreements, commercial leases, easements, and land use documents. Ideal candidates will have experience with conducting due diligence such as title, survey, and zoning review. Familiarity with real estate financing and experience in construction-related real estate matters is a plus. While this search is for a full-time position, candidates who have applicable experience and who are looking for a reduced billable workload and/or flexible schedule are also encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Where You'll Work This position can sit in any of the following offices: Toledo, Columbus, or Akron, Ohio, or be remote within Ohio with occasional travel to the Toledo or Columbus office. What You'll Do Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, and other related deal documents, in line with client expectations and closing timelines Interface with deal counsel and clients to obtain required documentation Review and negotiate financing agreements with lenders Research legal matters as needed, including but not limited to corporate and real estate law What We're Looking For We are looking for candidates who take a proactive approach and ownership of their work. Candidates must have a strong commitment to client service and a desire to develop and grow their transactional skills by working alongside exceptional attorneys. Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Ohio Bar Minimum 3 years of commercial real estate law experience Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills including a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines Comfortable handling the lifecycle of commercial real estate transactions with a strong attention to detail Ability to work with a variety of attorneys, paralegals, and staff, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality Who We Are We're not just another law firm - we're something different.
