Job Description

⁠​‌‌​​​‌​​​‌‌‌​‌​​​‌‌‌​​‌​‌​​‌​‌‌​​‌‌‌​​‌⁠ Description Three openings exist for assistant district attorney with County of Blair, located in Hollidaysburg, PA. Our hire will represent County in criminal matters from preliminary hearing court date at the magistrate level through their potential jury or court trial. Essential duties include reviewing and approving criminal complaints; advising police on criminal investigations; interviewing and preparing witnesses, expert witnesses, and victims; examining and selecting juries; filing, preparing, and litigating both pre- and post-trial motions; attending preliminary conference, jury selection, and trial list review; litigating cases from initial charges through appeal, including through pleas or jury trials; negotiating case settlements; writing briefs and legal documents; researching legal topics; maintaining licensure and legal education credentials; and driving/traveling as necessary.
Requirements:
Qualified applicants must possess a juris doctorate degree plus license to practice law in Pennsylvania; be registered as an attorney within the state; be admitted into the Western District of Pennsylvania; and have clearances compliant with child protective services laws. Prior work experience as a prosecutor is preferred; attorneys without prior experience will receive extensive training, up to 18 months, before they are able to try cases. Additional qualifications are fluency in English, effective interpersonal relations and communications skills (both written and verbal), attention to detail, time management, computer literacy, confidentiality, and skills in critical analysis related to identifying and solving problems, negotiations, and drafting contracts and agreements.

Starting wage for this union-eligible position is $50,500, with experience recognized by monetary enhancements up to a max of an additional $5,000 added to base. Work must be performed on site in Central PA, and we are not able to provide work visa sponsorship.
